UPDATE Strong Customer Authentication

Last month, the Financial Conduct Authority announced an 18 month extension to the implementation of Strong Customer Authentication (SCA). This extension is to give businesses, banks and card issuers more time to implement the directive.

Businesses now have until March 2021 to become compliant.

Since this is an EU-wide directive, we can expect to see a gradual adoption of SCA between now and the deadline in 2021.

In the meantime, the advice remains to ensure that your eCommerce website utilises 3D Secure v1 as this means, in the case of axis vMerchant websites, that you will be ready for the introduction of 3D Secure v2 in due course.
