Time is running out to register reserved .uk Domains

Your ability to register reserved .uk domain names ends at 6am on the 25th June.

What are these domains?

These are domain names that end with just .uk instead of .co.uk, .org.uk or any of the other familiar qualifiers.

So, for example, if your usual domain name is mycompany.co.uk then this would be the mycompany.uk domain.

What are reserved domains?

In 2013, Nominet, the United Kingdom's domain name registry, reserved the shorter .uk domain names for those who already have a matching .co.uk or .org.uk domain.

Those reservations end on the 25th June. After that date, those reserved domains will be released and available to anyone who wants to register them.

Should you register your reserved domain?

If Nominet has reserved a .uk domain for you then registering it before the 25th June can help you to protect your brand and/or use a shorter domain in your marketing.

You might want to use the shorter domain to point to your existing website, use it for a specific marketing project or simply register it to keep it from being registered by someone else.

How to register your reserved domain

You can check whether a domain has been reserved for you by using the Nominet website and if you wish to register a domain that has already been reserved, contact your usual domain registrar or contact axisfirst on 01278 421020.
