Google Analytics is Changing

In March, Google announced that, from 1st July 2023, their Universal Analytics will stop processing new data, effectively rendering it end-of-life (sunsetting, to use Google's terminology).

Universal Analytics is currently the most commonly-used method of tracking visitor's activity on websites.

The replacement, Google Analytics 4, was released in 2020 to introduce a number of new enhancements, including in the areas of privacy and efficiency.

Within the axisfirst Web Services team, we have already scheduled R&D work to look at the implications for new and existing web customers of moving to Google Analytics 4. This includes both those running bespoke websites and on the axis vMerchant Express platform.

If any changes are required, to websites or within client's own Google Analytics accounts, we will issue advice nearer the time.
