Workers have poor grasp of data security issues, survey suggests

A poll of IT security administrators in the UK has found that most believe employees in their businesses have poor understanding of data protection issues. The survey, conducted by Check Point and the Ponemon Institute, also found that most respondents thought that identity awareness was a priority issue. Dr Larry Ponemon, chairman and founder of the Ponemon Institute, said employees could be a business's "first line of defence", adding: "Companies are constantly facing new and costly security risks from both internal and external sources that can jeopardise the business."
