Internet Explorer Flaw Affects Windows XP Users

On 26th April, Microsoft issued a Security Advisory (No. 2963983) warning of a vulnerability in the following editions of Internet Explorer:

  • Internet Explorer 6
  • Internet Explorer 7
  • Internet Explorer 8
  • Internet Explorer 9
  • Internet Explorer 10
  • Internet Explorer 11

The vulnerability is a remote code execution vulnerability and Microsoft has said that it is aware of limited targeted attacks to exploit it. They say that they will take "appropriate" steps which "may include providing a solution through our monthly security update release process, or an out-of-cycle security update, depending on customer needs".

The main concern, however, will be those still using Microsoft Windows XP since official support ended earlier this month. This means that there will be more security updates or bug fixes from Microsoft for this operating system.
