Changes to eBay Order Numbers
eBay have recently began to roll out new unique Order IDs in the order details provided to sellers.
Prior to this change, each order was given a Sales Record Number, which was a short numeric reference and was not unique between different merchants.
The new reference is globally unique and therefore much longer, typically in the form 99-99999-99999.
The advantages of this new numbering scheme is that it is a single unique reference shared between buyers and sellers.
According to eBay, these new Order IDs will help sellers track and trace orders for easier reconciliation, help buyers track their order information and allow eBay to provide better customer support.
Whilst a number of marketplace platforms have struggled to cope with the new reference without modification, the good news for users of the axis diplomat eBay Interface module is that they are able to process orders with the new references without needing to update their software or wait for a programming change.
