Submitting Backups & Supported Tape Formats

Last Reviewed: 05 November 2004

Products affected: AXIS Diplomat (all versions)

Where, as a part of a suppport issue, it is necessary to examine a customer's AXIS Diplomat data, the prefered method of submitting data to Systems AXIS is in AXIS backup file format (.AXB file). AXIS Diplomat 2000SE includes comprehensive built-in backup functions which allow the current data to backed up into a single file in a highly optimised, compressed format.

The backup file is suitable for submission to Systems AXIS via email or via post on CD, DVD, ZIP (or on very small systems, 3.5" floppy).

Please note that an hourly labour charge is made for processing any backup not received in .AXB format on one of these media types.

Users who subscribe to the AXIS SoS (Safe Off-site Storage) service will normally already have AXIS backup files transmitted to Systems AXIS daily and therefore there should not be any need to submit further backups.

Users running older versions of AXIS Diplomat (e.g. AXIS Diplomat 2000) will not have the facilities to create .AXB files and must therefore submit a backup by other means (e.g. tape).

Whilst any device capable of backing up data can be used to backup AXIS Diplomat software and data, it is, of course, impossible for our support department to have access to every type of backup device and every version of every backup software package. For this reason, we produce the following supported list of backups which can be submitted to the Systems AXIS Customer Services department for support purposes.

Please do not submit a tape backup in any format not listed as we will not be able to restore it!
