Upgrades to AXIS Diplomat 2004
Frequently Asked Questions
If I upgrade to AXIS Diplomat 2004, how long will that product be supported?
It has long been the policy of Axis First to publise the expected life of all of its products at the earliest opportunity. To this end, an Application Support Note (ASN) is actively maintained with the latest Product Support Lifecycle information. ASN-2004-130 lists the dates up to which you can expect Mainstream and Extended Support for each release of AXIS Diplomat to be available.
I have only recently bought AXIS Diplomat 2000SE, do I qualify for special pricing?
Yes! Those users that have bought new AXIS Diplomat 2000SE within the six month period leading up to the launch of AXIS Diplomat 2004 qualify for discounts as per the following table:
Original Order Date |
Upgrade Discount |
01/05/2004 - 30/06/2004 |

01/01/2004 - 29/02/2004 |

To qualify for the discounts outlined above, orders for the upgrade to AXIS Diplomat 2004 must be received before 1st September 2004.
Please note that these discounts apply to the cost of the licence upgrade only and not to any training, software support or consultancy charges that may apply when upgrading.
I have only recently upgraded to AXIS Diplomat 2000SE. Have I missed out?
No. Our upgrade pricing policy has always been designed to encourage users to stay at the latest release. This ensures that, not only do they benefit from the latest features and enhancements at the earliest opportunity, but also their support costs are minimised.
This policy means that we have ensured that the cost of upgrading to AXIS Diplomat 2000SE and then upgrading to AXIS Diplomat 2004 is never more than the cost of upgrading directly to AXIS 2004 and, in most cases is actually cheaper. Furthermore, you will have had the opportunity to learn and benefit from the enhancements in AXIS Diplomat 2000SE before learning the new features of AXIS Diplomat 2004. This spreads your training requirement.
If I have Windows 9x workstations or a Novell NetWare server, can I buy AXIS Diplomat 2004 but install AXIS Diplomat 2000SE until I am ready to replace the workstations and/or server?
Yes - AXIS Diplomat software licences include downgrade rights to allow you to run one version below your licensed software. In the case of AXIS Diplomat 2004, this means that you are allowed to run AXIS Diplomat 2000SE. You should be aware, however, that you should aim to install the licenced version of software within the timescale for mainstream support for the lower version as outlined in the Product Support Lifecycle Application Support Note.
Please note that these rights apply to the software licence only. You will be liable for any additional installation, training, software support or consultancy charges that may apply when moving to AXIS Diplomat 2004.
If I am not ready to upgrade to AXIS Diplomat 2004 at this point in time, can I still purchase additional module or client licences for my AXIS Diplomat 2000SE or AXIS Diplomat 2000 system?
Additional clients and modules will continue to be available for AXIS Diplomat 2000SE until 31/12/2004.
Additional clients and modules are no longer available for AXIS Diplomat 2000.
AXIS Diplomat 2004 client licences are supplied with downgrade rights and can be added to existing AXIS Diplomat 2000SE systems (but not AXIS Diplomat 2000). This means that whilst still running AXIS Diplomat 2000SE, you can purchase additional AXIS Diplomat 2004 clients and use them on your AXIS Diplomat 2000SE system thus avoiding the need to purchase new AXIS Diplomat 2000SE clients and then purchase client upgrades for those same clients when subsequently upgrading to AXIS Diplomat 2004. |
