Mail for Exchange

Mail for Exchange from Nokia uses the Microsoft ActiveSync technology to enable synchronization of Microsoft Inbox mail folder, calendar and contacts between Microsoft Exchange servers and mobile devices.

 

Available for Nokia mobile devices, this email solution utilises the wireless Microsoft ActiveSync protocol available in Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 or later.  Mail for Exchange, a client application integrated to the native email, provides an end-to-end solution for enterprises deploying Microsoft back-end technologies.

Description

Mail for Exchange, enabled by Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, is one of the mobile email solutions available for Nokia Eseries mobile devices.

 

This solution provides wireless synchronization of email, calendar, and contact data between compatible Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 SP2 (or later) and mobile devices. By using the  direct push technology of the server, the Mail for Exchange client enables a virtually seamless email experience for Nokia Eseries devices. This email experience is supported either over a mobile network or wireless LAN, depending on the specific Nokia Eseries device used.

 

By collaborating with a range of service providers, Nokia has optimized opportunities for companies without their own Microsoft Exchange Server to leverage the value of Mail for Exchange, with its broad range of functionality.

Mail for Exchange utilises the following additional security features of Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 SP2 (or later)

  • Contents are password locked

 

Lock and wipe functions

  • An administrator can remotely lock and wipe a supported device that has been lost or stolen
  • Device is wiped if the password is entered incorrectly a predefined number of times

 

Synchronisation

  • Multiple configurations include: manual, scheduled (or periodic), and always-on synchronization using Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 SP2 or later
  • Manual and scheduled wireless synchronization of mobile devices is delivered using Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 SP1.

 

In addition, always-on wireless synchronization is supported by Exchange Server 2003 SP2 (or later) Direct Push technology

  • Synchronization according to individually configurable parameters

Device management support

  • Intellisync Device Management solution can install and configure Mail for Exchange clients over the air for all users (sold separately)
